HOT CHILD IN THE CITY

We continue scouting and supporting the new generations with this special issue of MANINTOWN – HOT CHILD IN THE CITY, giving particular space to the new voices of the Italian music scene. This focus on scouting began several years ago, but has taken on a new form today both digitally and in printed magazines. The inspiration for this issue starts from Nick Gilder’s song that was an immediate hit in the 1970s and was also recently taken up again, whose refrain remains etched in the minds of many: “Hot child in the city | Runnin’ wild and lookin’ pretty”

We worked on the six covers of the issue starting precisely from this combo of “wild & pretty”, “sexiness & new coolness”: three dedicated to new voices in music and three to faces in cinema. The first cover features Tananai (stage name of Alberto Cotta Ramusino), who after participating in Sanremo has won the public over, becoming one of the trendiest, most followed artists by youth. His single “Sesso Occasionale” has already been certified platinum and his tour has quickly sold out. Tananai’s unconventional character was captured by the fashion piece in pop tones by Leandro Emede and Nick Cerioni. Then there’s Fulminacci (real name Filippo Uttinacci), singer-songwriter whose name is beginning to spread among the general public and is discussed in the editorial by Maddalena Petrosino and Simone Folli. And finally a mix of art, culture and music, the combined passions of Ema Stokholma: an eclectic and absolutely charismatic figure clearly seen in the evocative images of Davide Musto and Alfredo Fabrizio. These are the highlights of our musical covers, but there are also many Voices in this issue. And we certainly haven’t neglected cinema, our other great passion and focus of the Faces section. For our Cover Stories, we chose to shoot Matilde Gioli and Maria Chiara Giannetta together for the first time, two actresses who represent the new face of Italian cinema and are amazing examples of female empowerment. And then there’s Giacomo Ferrara, who after the success of Suburra is ready to take on new challenges in the film Ghiaccio. Last but not least, the very young Francesco Gheghi (born in 2002) with real potential you can bet on. He’s currently being noticed in the film “Il Filo Invisibile” where he plays Leone, the teenage son of two fathers (Filippo Timi and Francesco Scianna), and we’ll also soon see him in the film Piove by Paolo Strippoli.

YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE

YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE is the theme of this new MANINTOWN issue, dedicated to supporting and involving the next generation of Italian talents in cinema and music. Taking inspiration from the iconic R&B singer Candi Staton, we strongly believe in emerging creativity from all around the globe. In the occasion of the last Venice Film Festival, we started by giving an award to Giancarlo Commare and Ludovica Francesconi, two young and promising talents who have recently worked together in the movie “Ancora più bello”.

We’re really proud to be the first to feature them as Cover Stories Of this new print edition, which signs a new era of the magazine. Since cinema and music will be inspiring the new editorial focus and the new website of manintown.com, the third Cover Story is dedicated to Tancredi Cantù Rajnoldi (aka Tancredi), a rising music star who will keep on surprising us more and more. These are just a few amongst the various names you will discover in our FACES and VOICES sections, where we scout and shoot the names we strongly believe in and bet on for the future. Last but not least, an exhibition “UNCENSORED//BODIES”, dedicated to the artistic nude as seen by the great Italian masters Gian Paolo Barbieri and Piero Gemelli, who have been put in a conversation with Pietro Lucerni and the artsy and irreverent performance of Jacopo Benassi.
