Stella Bossi

Remote Italian origins, but born and raised in Berlin, Stella Bossi is the undisputed queen of techno music not only in the German capital, where she is a resident DJ and a character known for her eccentricity, but she is listened to and requested all over the world. Her strong and somewhat mysterious image – always characterized by dark sunglasses – has conquered an international audience also through social media. In Italy we saw her thanks to Patrizia Pepe, a brand that has always paid attention to music, that hosted her in Milan for a DJ set during Fashion Week. In addition to her talent, Stella, with her idea of style and strong femininity, is a multifaceted personality. And we will hear more and more about her. Today she already works not only as a DJ and producer, but Stella is about to launch her first song with her voice. We met her and shot the editorial in her beloved Berlin, where she revealed something more…

When did you understand that music was your path and profession?

That’s hard to answer. I’ve been listening to music all day since I got my first Discman– just always, all day long. That never stopped. When I was in college, my roommates pointed out to me that I was constantly listening to music. In turn, I wondered, why aren’t they listening to music, because they were the musicians. After that, I started getting into production and Djing together with one of my roommates, and I slowly drifted more into the music industry.

How and where did you train to become a DJ and which kind of music do you love in your daily life?

It was during my studies in Amsterdam. In my artist’s flatshare, everyone was a musician, so I also got into DJing. Basically, I listen to all kinds of music. I don’t know any limits and always look forward to new tracks/genres, etc.

You are an acclaimed Dj and producer. Tell us about your new projects and  forthcoming launches.

I recently let loose in the studio and will be releasing new music. Especially one track, which I’ve been working on for more than three years, is very close to my heart. In this track, my voice will be heard for the very first time. The release is in June. It’s going to be wild!

Berlin is the capital for techno music and club culture. How do you feel the city?

Amazing! I love the energy, the music, and I love the people. Berlin is my home.

How much Berlin is influencing your music? And which are your favourite  spots around Berlin?

I’ve been going to techno clubs since I was 15, so I would say that the Berlin club scene has definitely influenced me, not just musically. My favorite clubs are Kit Kat Club and Sisyphos.

You are travelling all over the world, do you have some special moments about     cities and gigs?

Wherever music and people come together, there are special moments. Whether it’s with naked people at Kit Kat Club in Berlino or with wild ravers in Brazil up to the party in Milan hosted by Patrizia Pepe on the occasion of the fashion week… energy is created everywhere, leading to incredibly beautiful moments.

When you travel, which are your fashion essentials and must have pieces?

Sunglasses, sunscreen, sun hat (I always flee from winter! (laughs, ed).

You have a strong image also on social media, which is your relationship with fashion? How much your look reflects your personality?

I love fashion. As a little schoolchild, I had to wear a different head covering every day. Whether hats, caps, or scarves, as long as it was a new head covering. When we got our first computer at home, the first websites I visited were all fashion image sites. I’ve always loved and lived fashion. Fashion expresses my personality 100%. The way I feel is reflected in how I dress. And I like to convey sometimes strong messages also through social media.
